The Split System Air Conditioner is a rather recent development. This air conditioner was literally created to address the shortcomings of other air conditioning systems particular in the area of placement and effectiveness over a particular occupational area. It is sort of a midway between the Window Air Conditioner and the Central Air Conditioner as well. It tends to be more costly than the Window Air Conditioner but not as expensive as the Central one.
